Evelyn C. True (aka Dolores Kilgore Mitofsky), 80, of Hyde Park died November 30th.
Evelyn was born November 6, 1934 in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of Erwin and Erma Kilgore. She was an active Girl Scout her whole life and attended the 1st Senior Girl Scout Roundup in Michigan in 1956. She matriculated at Bates College and graduated from Columbia’s School of Nursing in 1957.
In her career as a Registered Nurse, she excelled to the positions of Supervisor and Director in several hospitals. Locally, she worked at Darmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Hanover, NH and was the Director of the Community Health Services in Norwich, VT.
She married Warren Mitofsky in 1956. Together they lived in Chapel Hill, NC, Minneapolis, MN, Silver Spring, MD and Leonia, NJ. They had two children, a son Bryan and a daughter Elisa. They divorced in 1971 and she and the children moved to Hanover, NH. In 2002 Evelyn moved to Hyde Park, VT to be near her daughter and family.
Evelyn was a kind and loving mother and friend to many. She loved to sing and tell stories. She was a devoted nurse and her patients were truly blessed by her care. Her alma mater, Bates College held a very special place in her heart.
She was an active member of the Johnson, VT ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Through the church she became interested in genealogy and discovered her roots in Scotland were Clan Mac Duff and her roots in Nova Scotia were Clan Munro.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Bryan Mitofsky and his wife Elizabeth Towle, her daughter Elisa Clancy and her husband Paul Clancy, her grandchildren, Ryan Mitofsky, Kyle Mitofsky, Parker Mitofsky, Isabel Clancy and Tucker Clancy.
Funeral service will be at her church on Sunday, December 7th at 2pm. Interment will be in the spring at Center Cemetery in Hyde Park. Faith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
