Harold J. Chapin

Hyde Park-Harold J. Chapin, 90, passed away Monday, December 8, 2014 at The Manor in Morrisville. He was born November 29, 1924 in Middlesex, the son of William Henry and Hazel Mae Weston Chapin. Harold served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Almenia Dailey on December 16, 1950. She predeceased him on October 27, 1996.

Harold was a dairy farmer throughout most of his working years and later worked as a security guard for the Mountain Company and had also been employed at Trapp’s. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and liked to follow the Ford drivers. Harold also enjoyed old-time country music and was a woodworker.

He is survived by a son, David Chapin, Cheryl and family of Kirby; a daughter, Joann Leonard of Hyde Park; grandchildren, Kimberly (Tony); Brenton; Brian; Leonard (Alisha); 4 great grandchildren, Ashley, Meagen, Harley and Grayson; a sister, Kathleen Baker of Jeffersonville and brother, Leroy Phelps of Massachusetts and several nieces and nephews. Harold was predeceased by his parents; wife, Almenia; and a brother, Richard Packard.
