Clayton Russell

Hyde Park-Clayton Russell, 84, died peacefully with his loving family by his side on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Forest Hill Residential Care Home in Hyde Park. He was born November 3, 1930 in Waterville, the son of Charles M. and Isabelle Burns Russell. He married Beverly Harvey on April 28, 1951 and they were happily married for 52 years.

Clayton was a master electrician and retired from the Vermont Electric Co-op after 28 years of service. He loved being with his family, hunting, fishing, sugaring and playing bingo, games and cards. He was a true “Vermont chatter box”, he could strike up a conversation with anyone.

He is survived by his children, Diane Bettis; Darla Wells and husband, Wayland, II; Darin Russell and wife, Sara; Denise Durivage and husband, Elmer, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Carole Russell; grandchildren, Christopher, Renae, Isabelle, Daniel, Alex, Amelia, Grace, Reeve and Jolene; twin great-grandchildren, David and Ivy; brothers, Burr Russell and wife, Joan; Charlie Russell and wife, Laura; sisters, Cathy Machia and Betty Rooney; brother-in-law, Glendon McNally; sister-in-law, Zona Bryce and numerous nieces and nephews. Clayton was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Beverly; a son, David; grandchildren, Jacob and Russell Durivage; sister, Ruby McNally and brother, Louis.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Faith Funeral Home, 165 Brooklyn St., Morrisville. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the spring in Evergreen Ledge Cemetery in Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Clayton’s memory may be made to Forest Hill Residential Care Home, 213 Clark Drive, Hyde Park, VT 05655. He lived here for six years and the staff became part of his family. He and his children adored them all.
