MARY LOUISE (WATSON) NEWSOM

Mary Louise Newsom died gently Sunday evening, January 18, 2015, at The Manor in Morrisville, Vermont, at the age of 102

Born in Greene County, Indiana, on November 11, 1912, Louise was the oldest child of Nellie (Branstetter) and Charles Watson. She graduated from Worthington High School in 1932, and then worked as a hairdresser and manicurist for two years until marrying Jack Newsom on November 4, 1934. Louise and Jack lived in Speedway, Indiana, for 56 years before relocating to Hyde Park, Vermont, in 2001 to be near their only child, Maryanne Newsom-Brighton. Louise retained her membership with the Speedway (Indiana) Christian Church and P.E.O., Chapter CN, Speedway, IN.

An excellent cook, Louise enjoyed entertaining her wide circle of friends and trying out new recipes on them. She and Jack traveled extensively throughout the United States. She loved music and chocolate. Most of all, she adored her only grandchild, Casey.

Louise patiently endured the ravages of dementia over the past twenty years. She knew her Lord Jesus Christ and is home at last, restored to her full potential, and reunited with her beloved Jack.

Louise is survived by her daughter Maryanne Newsom-Brighton and husband Ken Brighton of Hyde Park, Vermont, and by her grandson Casey Brighton, of Washington, North Carolina.

Burial will be in the town cemetery at Worthington, Indiana, later in the fall.

Louiseā€™s family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of The Manor for their amazing attention to her for the past twelve years. She was not only cared FOR, she was loved and cared ABOUT during all those years.

Memorial donations may be made to the Elmore United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 181, Lake Elmore, Vermont 05657. Faith Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements. Online condolences may be made by visiting faithfh.net
