Allison Brayton

Morrisville-Allison Brayton passed away on January 20, 2015. She was born in Ashburnham, MA on August 15, 1916 to Percy Shields Brayton and Mabel Persis (Allison) Brayton. She was the youngest of seven children.

She attended schools and Tufts University in Medford, MA. She was employed at the First National Bank of Boston from 1938 through 1986, retiring as Assistant Manager of the Employees Restaurant System.

She sang with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Choral Society for 25 years giving concerts in several overseas countries including England, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and Austria. Other travels included Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Scotland and Israel.

Allison also worked part-time as a church administrator for the Unitarian-Universalist Church in Medford, MA for 25 years. One of her special interests included attending conferences at Star Island, the Isles of Shoals for 65 years.

In October, 2001 she moved to Morrisville to live with her niece, Judith Pease and to be near her brother, Reverend Douglas Brayton and his family.

Her current interests included stitching cross-stitch samples for the needlework shop, “The Wooden Needle” in Stowe. She has been very active with the Women’s Fellowship group at the Stowe Community Church were each year she sold the tickets for the annual Harvest Chicken Pie Supper. She also set up and ran the Needlenook table at the annual Christmas Fair.

Allison is survived by 61 nieces and nephews (four generations) scattered throughout the U.S. from Maine to Hawaii.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stowe Community Church. Faith Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
