Seymour M. “Sam” Ruggles Seymour M. “Sam” Ruggles, 87, of Morrisville died peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at Copley Hospital in Morrisville with his loving family at his bedside. He was born January 6, 1928, in Hyde Park the son of the late Manley S. and Ada (Johnson) Ruggles. He attended Hyde Park graded school, graduated from Peoples Academy in Morrisville and continued his education at Vermont Technical College in Randolph. He entered the U. S. Army on November 16, 1950, during the Korean Era. Seymour was honorably discharged from active duty on October 16, 1952. On June 8, 1957, he married Frances Mary-Paul Lefebvre in Enosburg Falls. They lived most of their married life in Morrisville where he was employed by H. A. Smalley Motors in their parts department as a stock clerk. He later worked at Copley Hospital, first in housekeeping and for more than 25 years he was in the purchasing department. He retired in the late 90’s. Seymour was a member of the Green Mt. Folk Lore Society and the American Legion Post #33, in Morrisville. He enjoyed square dancing with the Lamoille County swingers, gardening, and building scale models. He finished building his home. He was a self-taught plumber and furniture builder. He wrote stories on Vermont History through his own experiences. They were published in the Green Mt. Whittlin’s. Survivors include his wife, Frances of Morrisville; five children, John and Susan Ruggles of Alexandria, VA, Ruth and Wayne Preavy of Morrisville, Janet Ruggles-Power and Robert Power of Waterbury, Anna and Thomas Simoneau of Milton and Marie and Lawrence Williams of Sunset, Utah; five grandchildren, and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Elinor Spitzer, and a step-sister. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the Faith Funeral Home, 165 Brooklyn Street, Morrisville, with the Rev. Alden Launer officiating.
