Rita Gervais Parker

Johnson-Rita M. Parker, 81, died peacefully on Saturday morning, May 16, 2015 at Copley Hospital in Morrisville. She was born in Enosburgh on December 4, 1933, the daughter of Simeon “Sam” and Lillian Godin Gervais.

Rita graduated from Enosburg Falls High School in 1951 as salutatorian of her class. She worked at the Spavin Cure, and Enosburg Falls Water and Light Department before moving on to the Vermont Electric Co-op in Johnson. Rita also volunteered many years at both the Johnson Library and Food Shelf.

Rita married Richard A. Parker, Sr. in 1973 in Johnson. She is survived by her son, Kevin of Denver, CO and his wife, Dana and her grandchildren Maxwell and Lillian Cate; and Kevin’s brothers, Richard A. Parker, Jr. of Eden Mills and his wife, Mary Ann and their children, Karen, Dan and Eric; Stephen G. Parker of Denver, CO and his wife, Claire and their children, Amy, Frank and Leslie; Christopher J. Parker and his wife, Etta; her brother, Normand and his wife, Avis Gervais of Enosburg Falls; her Uncle Harold and Aunt Lucille Godin Duckless of Newport Center; and several nieces, and nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by her brother, Paul Gervais; and her sisters, Yvonne Brown and Pauline Brodeur.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Johnson. Interment will follow in Lamoille View Cemetery. Faith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
